I love it When a Plan Comes Together, But It Depends On What Plan

The A-Team is being remade for the big screen. I have wanted to see this for along time, but just as I thought I was on the Jazz again, it sounds like this might not be what I have waited for.

They apparently want to take the show and make it "real" and as far as remakes go that hasn’t really ever worked. Look at all the TV show movies that tried that formula and how they totally bombed.

To be successful the movie remake MUST capture the sprit of the original. Why not have fun with it? Not in a Brady Bunch Movie way, but in a Starky and Hutch or Charlie’s Angels movie sort of way.

E-online Josh Grossberg reports:

The show’s mastermind, Stephen J. Cannell, and The A-Team movie’s home base, 20th Century Fox, have hired veteran James Bond screenwriter Bruce Feirstein to pen the script, Daily Variety reports.

I hope his take on it works.

"Mr. T and I had lunch last week, and I’d really like to have him in the movie, although we haven’t begun casting," Cannell tells Variety. "I always think it’s nice to see the stars of the old show in cameo roles in the movie. But obviously he won’t be playing B.A. Baracus."

Honestly Mr.T is still young enough to play himself. He looks the same and it might even be fun, but I can understand that it might be odd with everyone else being new.

This is what has me scared:

According to Cannell, the A-Team flick will be updated to reflect current political issues. The film will also forego the cartoonish nature of the tube version in favor of more serious action à la Die Hard and Lethal Weapon.

Just another action movie like Die Hard and Lethal Weapon? I think that is very risky on their part. The concept of an A-Team is a bit "cartoony" on its own. The fans who love it, do so for that reason and are that’s what makes the show great. I think they will have a hard time making it into something real and gritty and get a new generation to take it serious.

Cannell, who’s producing the movie with Spike Seldin and Mark Silvestri, says he wants to bring new fans into the A-Team fold without alienating those who grew up watching the show. He hopes the hiring of Feirstein will accomplish that.

I hope so as well. I like Top Cow I think they have some decent comics, not great but decent enough, but I wasnt impressed with the Witchblade TV show at all. Please dont let this come out the oven anything like that.

Not to denigrate the TV show, but nobody ever died," the producer says in Variety. "We drove cars off cliffs and people got out and walked away. We’re not going to do that [in the movie]."

What is wrong with that? And yet the show was still great. They are forgetting the shows charm and attraction.

Sounds like a lot of it will be changing and that makes me worried of course. I wish they would do it like the Starsky and Hutch movie. That would be perfect.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
They can't change it to make more real. I will be severly dissappointed if they acutally shoot people. I want them to shoot at their feet and then punch them. There better at least be a heavily armored passenger vehicle of some sort. I pity the fool who dares to give the A-team realism. Jerks!

This whole project is a travesty and a sham. I am going to try to get an activist judge to do something about it. People dieing, that makes me sick. Jerks!

Of course the A-Team needs to be realistic. I mean come on guys. The orginal A-Team was made back when the world needed a little comedy, but today the worlds is so fun and happy all the time, I think that what we need is some realism. Think about it, today America is unified, and the world is united in peace and harmony. What Hollywood needs to do is put some realistic, blood and guts on the movie screen for our children to watch. That way the A-Team can attract new, hard-core fans who aren't interested in all the childs-play of the original series.
dan.
