The Man Who Might Be Superman

super-BrandonRouth.jpg
Bryan Singer who is set to direct the next “Superman” movie franchise has (not officially) picked to play Clark Kent/Superman the relatively unknown actor Brandon Routh.

An Informant reported to Superherohype.com: First off, he (Singer) was very nervous about replying to questions about the casting of Superman; however at one point he slipped up, and spoke of how he just finished an awesome test with someone which was shot in 60mm film for Superman. He said that, "if I had cast Superman, I spoke to the actor, and he is very happy about the decision...". He slipped up and revealed that Superman had been cast.(snip)...he pretty much confirmed that Routh has been cast.

Routh was first linked to the role when he was part of McG’s (Who was set to direct the movie until he left the project) FlyBy screentests.

Its not an official announcement but pretty close.

What they do have going for them with this choice is that he resembles Christopher Reeves and since this superman movie is a continuation of the previous that will help a lot.

I hope it works out. I don’t like the choice because he is WAY too young. Superman is not a young person or a guy in his 20’s. For that alone I have a hard time buying it. If he was young in age but looked older and more larger than life then I could probably get behind it. I just think that with this guy will make the movie hard to watch.

Let hope not.

All I can say to this is "Why not Bruce Campbell?"

Not sure what to think about it yet. I have enjoyed what Bryan Singer had done so far with X-men.

"I hope it works out. I don’t like the choice because he is WAY too young. Superman is not a young person or a guy in his 20’s."

I agree with this quote. I look at Superman as an authority figure or even a father figure. Someone you can look up to (literally). I think going young is a bad decision.

I don't think that should be a factor for a film that someone resembles a previous actor. What Christopher Reeves did with Superman was classic and when people saw him they knew he was Superman. I wouldn't want to be known as the actor that played Superman who looked like Christopher Reeves.

Only time will tell...... I just pray they don't screw this up.

But Thomas you already are.

I guess better Christopher Reeves then George Reeves.

Don't mess with George Reeves man.

as it turns out, so was christopher reeve when he was superman, being 26-27.
