Public School Rewrites The Pledge of Allegiance; Jibba Jabba Full On

The Pledge of AllegianceZeroIntelligence.net reports: The kids in Mr. Reister’s first grade class at Raleigh Park Elementary School in Beaverton, Oregon were given a class project to re-write the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Reister’s class removed all of the references to religion, nationalism, democracy and basically all allegiance and replaced the very heart of our pledge with bland political correctness.

I do hope this was just to illustrate to first graders what the pledge means or something like that rather than a new pledge for the kids to recite.

Beavton School Rewrite THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

I promise to support the flag, which is a symbol of our country called the United States of America,
and to support the government that we are proud of,
we are one country, which is a big place with lots of people,
trying to do good things,
that can never be separated because we work together,
with freedom,
and being fair to all the people in our country.

The Actual PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,
and to the republic for which it stands,
one nation,
under God,
indivisible,
with liberty,
and justice to all.

What I found interesting is that the pledge rewrite say "to support the government that are proud of."

That is pretty goofy. One can be patriotic (in the sense of loving one's country and its people) without loving the government.

While I'm not a fan of "pledges of allegiance" for lots of reasons, I do prefer the real one to the rewrite.
