DVDs Collected; Watched

Patrick Warburton as The Tick
We have been watching The Tick (the short lived live action TV series). I bought it on DVD recently. The best way to describe the show is it’s Seinfeld but with superheroes.

It’s a shame it go on to more episodes. The show debuted the same time as survivor did, so it was really bad timing and placement. That along with FOX mishandling the show and how to handle it.

It’s a very funny however show and if you haven’t seen it check it out because it’s really amazing what they achieved and I think it had potential to be a classic.

Destiny has chosen us. Wicked men! You face...The Tick!

The Tick Cast Shot

We have also been watching the 1st and second season of Seinfeld on DVD. This is a great DVD package and very well put together. The extras and commentary are some of the best I have seen in a DVD. The menu and layout is easy to follow as well; a true joy to own.

We have also been watching PeeWee’s Playhouse on DVD; season one and two. Ah the memories that flood back to me watching these. There was nothing even remotely like it on TV and I still haven’t seen anything as insane as that show. The Weird Al show comes as close as I have seen.

I found out I remember just about ever detail of that show. As I was watching them I knew exactly what was coming next and even some of the dialogue as it went along. It’s amazing how things can unlock memories. I felt like a kid again.

There were two shows I HAD to watch growing up. I never missed them and I did anything to make sure I saw them and they were A-team and Pee Wee’s Playhouse.

I also bought the first season of A-team on DVD as well. The only disappointment in the A-team Season One DVD is there are no extras at all. With most of the cast still alive it would have been great to have had commentary or at least some interviews with them.

We watch a couple movies over the break that I borrowed from a friend. We saw Van Helsing and the New Remake of Dawn of the Dead.

Van Helsing just wasn’t that great of a movie. I probably went in expecting more, but it was very predictable and too formulaic. It went in thinking it was going to be an interesting take on old scary movies and instead just got a rehashed James Bond.

I did like the Dawn of the Dead remake, but it doesn’t beat the original. I still prefer zombies to walk not run. George Romero the original creator of Dawn of the Dead is suppose to be working on a new one that continues the story called Land of the Dead. He was quoted as saying he will not have the zombies running and thinks that idea is stupid…hats off to George for that.
