Kansas 9-year-old tries to swap gun for Xbox, but the trade never went through, and it didnt, and wasnt to happen on school property. But the school wields it’s power anway.
Wichita (Kansas) Eagle Article - It started out as a proposed trade between two 9-year-old Wichita boys.
One boy offered a .38-caliber handgun for an Xbox, a popular electronic game system, officials say.
But the trade never occurred. Instead, the boy offering the gun has been suspended from school, and his grandfather has received a notice to appear in court for improperly storing a firearm.
It gets better.
Instead of going through with the trade Tuesday, the boy with the Xbox told his mother about the offer. The mother quickly notified a teacher, and soon police were alerted, school district spokeswoman Susan Arensman said.
Police found the loaded gun in the boy’s backpack at his home Tuesday night.
Police spokeswoman Janet Johnson stressed that the gun never made it to school and that the boy made no threats.
No threats, not on school property, and never even happened. Also may I remind you this is a 9-year old.
Because the school district has a zero-tolerance policy against weapons and because the gun could have been taken to school, the boy who offered the trade has been suspended. He will remain on suspension pending a hearing that will be held within a week, Arensman said.
The 9-year old was suspended because the gun COULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN TO SCHOOL. Riddle me this; How can you break a school policy against weapons in school if you never brought a weapon to school?
This had nothing to do with School other than the mother of the child with the Xbox had the bright idea to call the school rather than the police or better yet talking to the other kids Grandfather.
