April 1st we went to regal cinema to see Sin City on its Opening night. My friend Josh and his girlfriend came with us.
All I can say about the movie is that it was a spectacular presentation like I’ve never seen before. Its style is like no other movie I ’ve seen. Sin City perfectly represents the graphic novels almost panel by panel word for word. It’s about as true as you can get to the books.
Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller (the artist of the books) used the graphic novels as the already created storyboard so every panel was recreated just as you would normally.
What also amazed me was the actors looked exactly like characters. They acted and sounded like I imagined they would.
The movie was super violent and graphic, but since its so very stylized you really didn’t get a sense of reality that would make the violence hard to swallow. In fact as I was watching Sin City I found myself being draw into it like it was its own little world. I really like the books mythology and design.
The movie was disconnected from reality in a way that allowed you to find yourself swept away; transported to the world of Sin City. This is exactly what the books did and once again shows how true this movie was to the original material.
