I’ve gotten behind on journaling our vacation so it’s taken me some time but this is the next chapter in our summer vacation. (more to follow)
August 2nd 2005 - Day 6: The day started out with Grandpa giving the kids a ride around the farm on the 4-wheeler. He spent some time trying to get it working so he could take them for this ride and they loved it. Alex still wanted to find a bear ever since seeing that photo Grandpa took.
Later that day we went to Hatfield Lake with Grandma. This is a really nice manmade lake that my mom went to as a kid and that we used to go as kids and now my kids get to go as…well kids. It has a name, but we just call it Hatfield Lake.
The weather this say was perfect. We had the best weather on this trip; sunny with a cool breeze and a few hot but very tolerable days. The weather at the lake was cool in the shade and the water was warm from the sun.
It was strange that there was hardly anyone at the beach, but that made it all the more fun.
It was great to have my grandma there; just her and the family.
I sat back and read some Time and Newsweek magazines I took from grandma and grandpa’s house. It was nice quiet and relaxing,
My Aunt Debbie came later and played with the kids.
Later that day, while Parker was sleeping, Alex and I took a walk around the farm and played on the tractors. I later took Parker on a walk after he woke up.
That night Brandi and I stayed out at the mobile home to watch for falling stars and just sleep out under a sky packed with stars.
We decided to sleep out on the deck in the fold down deck chairs. The weather was perfect for it.
We watched a lightning storm off on the horizon and saw many falling stars. We also counted 13 satellites in orbit. You can see orbiting satellites very clearly that far away from city lights.
Here are some pics from day 6…
