Thomas Haden Church is Flint Marko, Sandman!

Man am I glad the Spider-man villain in the third movie is Sandman. I just didn’t want the guy to be Venom. This is such a relief. I love how they have him in his original trademark clothing as well.

Thank you Sam Raimi! Man I am pumped about this movie now.

F*** is wrong with you, AJY? Venom should not be on the list of Spider-Man villains you hate. I just thank God that Green Goblin and Doc Ock aren't on it too. Like the two mentioned, Venom is a cool villain. Sandman may rock, but only Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus(who already had their turns)rock more than Venom. As I said, if you hate Venom, you are not worthy of being a Spider-Man fan. And by the way, in hating Venom, you're one of the minority, didn't you know? And nobody wants to be that. So, if you will mind telling me why you hate Venom, or put a lot more crudely, what is wrong with you, I will be pleased, and so will all other worthy Spider fans who love Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Venom, Carnage, and all other Spidey villains which make even the cool ones look pathetic. So tell me, will you? Cause anyone who hates Venom or any other great villains has a very serious problem. As said in the beginning, AJY, what the f*** is wrong with you. Hating Venom. Tell me why now!

I'm really sorry but once you mentioned "Carnage" as a great villain you lost all credibility as a spider-man fan.

I could give you Venom as a decent villain, although still pretty lame, but once you said "Carnage" I realized that you are not looking at a quality story in what you like about comics, but instead simple gratuitous fighting.

Venom is fine as a basic villain. There is a decent story there in the beginning; after that he just got to be ridiculous. "Carnage" on the other hand has always been a waste of space. A gratuitous shock value character at a time in comics when that was what all companies were doing to keep up with Mcfarlane's pathetic attempt at a comic book "spawn". Books were trying to get as dark as possible and Marvel felt Spider-Man should jump on the bandwagon.

It was a dark day of comics indeed because the stories and characters were very weak and all centered around stories that would allow for the most fighting. Every book was the same and just page after page of fight scenes.

Some of the worst story lines in Spider-man's history featured "Carnage"; any REAL Spider-Man fan will tell you that.

I am a huge Spider-Man fan. I started collecting when I was 11 and have all books in the core titles missing about 100 or so books from Amazing Spider-Man. I'm now 29 so I have been reading Spider-Man for 18 years.

Sam Raimi has made some amazing films that are true to the origins and spirit of Spider-Man. He has established that he wants to use classic villains not 90's retreads. All I am saying is I am very glad.

Certainly the kiddies love Venom and "Carnage", those of you who grew up in the mid 90's and only know Spider-Man from these villains and stories should take a look back.

Also for modern books grab the early Marvel Knights Spider-Man (the first 12 or so were the best). This is the best series to come around in along time and also tried to use Venom properly.

I am quite sorry, AJY. I had no idea that you were just glad. Oh, and I've read those Marvel Knights Spider Man books. You're right, they do rock! And along with Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus(my first two favorites)and a lot of others, they DO try to use Venom properly, though I do pity Brock. Whatever, I thank you for your explaining and advice. But I do have a question for you. Remember how you said that Venom had a decent storyline but then got ridiculous? I was wondering: You're referring to those Venom mini series and specials that were made because people wanted more of him, aren't you? And Carnage being featured in some of the worst Spidey storylines? You're referring to "Maximum Carnage" and that whole thing with Spider-Man and the Silver Surfer, right? I am assuming all this because I can't think of anything else you could be directing it towards. Anyway, for the third Spider-Man movie, I think Sandman will do great, and I certainly hope he can go the distance that Norman and Otto went. Anyway, good luck to all us comic book movie goers. In the meantime, I'ma get me some other comics.
