On To Appleton

Wednesday we left the farm for Uncle Gary’s house in Appleton.

On the way there we stopped at the giant talking cow and the old Wisconsin’s Worlds Fair pagoda. We bought another postcard to send Kennady and some rootbeer and cheese.

A short drive away we stopped at the Lynn Dairy so that I could snag some cheese curds. I was dying to get some fresh. This was about as fresh as you could get without scooping them right out of the vat.

After being disappointed that there were no cheese curds in stock at the crazy pagoda I was giving up hope of finding any for the long drive to Appleton. But as we were passing by this tiny town I looked over and saw a small dairy. It was the Lynn Dairy and as we passed by I noticed a tiny white windowless side door with a small hand written sign that said Cheese Shop. It was a very tiny shop about 15 feet by 20 feet with a large display freezer taking up most of the space. You sort of stood in a small hallway looking at the days fresh cheeses.

Behind the counter was an old grandmotherly looking woman wearing a white lab coat and hairnet. She sold me some fresh Lynn Dairy cheese curds. They were wonderful. As we went along the drive they warmed up and were amazingly good.

After we arrived in Appleton Gary took us on a tour or the Lawrence University area and campus. We got to see another site of Appleton and it was beautiful. We also got to see his church.

Enjoying a mean game of photograph rummy.

A Lutheran Church.

I have no idea who these people where.

Gary and I getting ready to do our old Vaudville act.

After the game.
