Tis the Season of Colorful Explosions

Saturday July 1st we caught the traditional Fireworks display at the Greens Apartments which are close to where we live. It’s always fun to load up in the car in our pajamas and drive down to a local church parking lot to watch them.

Sunday we did the also traditional trip to the Eagle Heights Church fireworks. We met up with mom and Kristen, Joe and the kids. The kids played on the inflatables before the show started.

The afternoon of Monday the 4th we went to the Buck Thomas Park to see the big 4th of July event they have there. We went to see the radio controlled airplanes and almost missed them. We did miss the show but got to see some of them flying around anyway.

We checked out some of the booths and stopped and watched a magic show. We also stopped and checked out the cars in the car show. There was a very large showing of classic mustangs.

It was very very hot.

After we left we headed to mom’s house. We ate and had a great time and when it got dark I got to whip out my fireworks. I bought 3 packs of large artillery fireworks on the way home from Wisconsin, and Kristen picked up lots of other smaller stuff for the kids.

We had a bunch of fireworks more than normal. It was lots of fun. Joe and I tried firing off 2 of the artillery shots at a time and I managed to get burnt every time because those dang fuses are not meant to be held in your hand; they are too fast.

When I bought my fireworks the guy stuck in a handful of extras which included a large rocket. I have had bad experiences with a rocket so I am always very suspicious of them. There is no predicting where it will go and they are extremely powerful.

We fired this one off and it was super fast and left a thick plume of smoke. This one proved once again that they are dangerous and unpredictable as usual and curved back towards the house landing somewhere behind it. Any lower and it could have been bad.

The Branum’s and their boys came down and watched what we had left and also brought down some massive sparklers; biggest ones I have ever seen.

For the finale Joe and I managed to light 3 artillery shots at the same time. I of course held all three fuses together by hand while Joe lit them. Yeah I was burnt pretty bad but it was worth it. They all fired perfectly.

Joe running like a scared little girl from a tiny spinner.

Of all the pictures Brandi took that night she didnt get one of the actual fireworks going off.
